MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Founded in 1981, Tambuah Mas specialises in Indonesian home-style cuisine from Padang, Sulawesi, and Java. The look has remained largely unchanged over the years but no one is here for the décor - they come for dishes like rendang lembu (braised beef in spice and coconut milk); tahu telor (fried cubed beancurd and egg ) and kepala ikan istimewa (fish head simmered in tangy spicy sweet and sour asam sauce). The menu is not overlong and the dishes are full of flavour and nicely balanced.
