MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Antonio Sinesi has been impressing the Milanese for the last 15 years. Now, with Il Divo, he’s impressing stateside. The small space exudes charm and elegance with 1920s movie posters and sparkling chandeliers. The exceptionally warm staff adds to the inviting ambience—the manager may even stop by with a complimentary grappa at meal’s end. The menu focuses largely on Northern Italian cooking with a few classics sprinkled in. Beef tenderloin, poached in olive oil and tossed with arugula and Parmesan crisps, melts in your mouth. The 12 eggs spaghetti isn’t flashy but is so well executed, and the bacon-wrapped scallops over chickpea bisque is a delightful dish. The wine list leans Italian but features some exciting bottles at palatable prices.
