MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The third-generation owner-chef of this restaurant, which was founded in the Taisho period and is a branch of the sabazushi restaurant Izuu, touts his sushi as ‘Kyoto-style’. Items include a whole mackerel sliced up into sushi, white-fleshed fish in a box, and thick-rolled sushi with sweet boiled shiitake or kanpyo. Hot steamed sushi featuring anago or omelette strips is a winter speciality. The Kansai-style vinegared rice goes well with the toppings.
