1828 Smart Hotel

Fray Justo Santa María de Oro 1828, Buenos Aires, Argentina
14 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Quiet
New York and London can argue over who started the trend, but is there any doubt that Buenos Aires is the current boutique-hotel capital of the world? The fashionable sub-neighborhood of Palermo Soho, home to many of the city’s better restaurants, bars, and cafés is also home to a handful of fine, stylish lodgings, and to their number you can add 1828 Smart Hotel. An imposing antique wooden door stands, rather incongruously, at the bottom of a futuristic façade of frosted glass, and what’s behind that door is something else entirely — a charming 14-room boutique hotel in a Deco-influenced contemporary style.

They’re equipped with all the modern necessities, from soundproof windows and Nespresso machines to 800(!)-thread-count linens and massive HD televisions. The bathrooms are Italian marble and the beds are by Serta — there’s no question of corner-cutting here. The suites come with outdoor Jacuzzis, but everyone has access to the heated pool on the patio, as well as the rooftop terrace — and a small spa completes the luxury-boutique package. And while there’s no shortage of drinking and dining options in the surrounding neighborhood, if you’d prefer a night in you’ll find the hotel’s own restaurant and bar are more than equal to the task.
