‘Fritts’ derives from the French word ‘frites’, meaning ‘fried food’, and sure enough, Fritts specialises in fried treats such as deep-fried shrimp and deep-fried minced meat cutlets. The ingredients are coated in coarse breadcrumbs, enhancing the fragrance of the batter. In addition to the fried items, Western-influenced dishes such as hamburger steak and gratin are also popular. The owner-chef’s experience with French gastronomy shines in the chicken-liver pâté and lamb stew.
