At first glance, you might think the Grand Hotel Courmayeur Mont Blanc is one of the resort town’s storied old hotels, the kind of place that’s hosted queens and Nobel Prize winners. But despite its mountain-chalet architecture and its prime location overlooking the slopes, it’s one of the newer hotels in town.
A modern take on a traditional alpine lodge, this luxury hotel has bright, smartly designed rooms with parquet floors, exposed beams, rich leather detailing, and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the mountains. All but a few have private balconies or patios, and suites feature plush seating areas and Jacuzzis. The stylish wood-lined bar, with cozy lounge space and a large heated terrace, hits the right notes for après-ski drinks with a view, and it’s just as appealing in summer when colorful wildflowers bloom on the hillsides.
