On 8 October 2025, The MICHELIN Guide revealed its awards of One, Two or Three Keys for Austria's most outstanding hotels.
The MICHELIN Guide now includes over 7 000 hotels around the world, and each of them offers much more than just a room for the night. Each has been judged as excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution as an inspiring gateway to local culture.
Which brings us back to the Keys. The culmination of countless hours of evaluation by our Inspectors, the Key hotels below represent the highlights of our broader selection. Like MICHELIN Stars for restaurants, MICHELIN Keys distinguish our most outstanding hotels.
In total, The MICHELIN Guide's 2025 hotel selection in Austria includes two Three Key hotels, 18 Two Key hotels - Hotel Tannehof joining as the latest addition - and 45 One Key hotels of which 4 have been newly awarded One Key. 20 Keys Awarded in Vienna
In Austria, a particularly large number of Keys have been awarded in the capital, Vienna. The impressive collection of Key hotels can be divided into two categories. There are the elegant, luxe hotels – mostly steeped in history – such as the Hotel Sacher, Hotel Sans Souci, Hotel Imperial and Rosewood Vienna. Then, in contrast, there are the young, hip, modern places, including Hotel Josefine, Hollmann Beletage Design & Boutique Hotel and Hotel MOTTO, each of which has been awarded a Key. Testament to the terrific variety in this fabulous city!See more: 2 Days in Vienna

An Invitation from Tyrol to you: Key Hotels with MICHELIN-Starred Restaurants
Tyrol in Western Austria is known for its breathtaking Alpine landscape, its authentic cuisine boasting dishes such as Kaspressknödeln (cheese dumplings) and Schlutzkrapfen (mezzelune), and its unique brand of hospitality. Indeed, Tyroleans' warmth is the stuff of legend, and this is also reflected in the number of hotels in the region presented with a Key or Keys. In addition, a total of seven Key hotels in Tyrol serve truly exceptional cuisine that has been decorated with at least one MICHELIN Star. New to the list is the One Key hotel Alpenresort Schwarz in Obermieming with its Two-Star Restaurant 141 by Joachim Jaud.

Burgenland, Carinthia, Upper Austria and Styria
In these four regions, the geography is less Alpine – the landscape is flatter, a patchwork of hills and forests – and the best time to travel is all year round! Exclusive gems can be found here. These include the One Key hotels Schreiblhofer THE RESORT in Andau, Burgenland, Impulshotel FREIGOLD in Freistadt, Upper Austria, the 14-room Hideaway Hotel Montestyria in Styria, and Two Key hotels Schloss Seefels and lakeside Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden in Carinthia by Wörthersee. The legendary, fairy-tale Rosewood Schloss Fuschl in Hof, near Salzburg in Upper Austria, which reopened last summer after two years of refurbishments, has kept Three Keys.
