Sandrine and Vincent Cardoso (formerly of the Forge at Milhac d’Auberoche) can now be found in a modern edifice done up in a minimalist vibe. A feast of tender loving care has, however, been lavished on the food and nothing leaves the kitchen that hasn’t been puzzled over and preened to perfection. First-rate local produce (milk-fed veal, walnuts, blueberries), splendid vegetable side dishes (celeriac and potatoes with stuffed poultry), jus and sauces (verbena-flavoured butterscotch milk): every bite unveils the chef’s virtuoso technique and flair. The lunchtime menu is a bargain.
