There are few cities in the world that can go toe-to-toe with London when it comes to restaurants. With dozens of international cuisines represented across a dining scene that also boasts 78 MICHELIN Starred establishments, it is quite simply one of the best places to eat around the globe. With London’s culinary map constantly evolving, our Inspectors add new restaurants to The Guide every month, while the much-coveted Stars and other awards are announced once a year. With only a few weeks to go until The MICHELIN Guide Ceremony for Great Britain & Ireland 2025, this month represents our final round of additions before the year’s big event on Monday 10th February at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow. Five London restaurants have been added to the selection, with a real sense of quality running through them. Whether the cooking is Thai, Mexican or resolutely British, you can be sure it will be delicious at these impressive operations.
AngloThai, Marylebone
ThaiAfter years of pop-ups around the capital, John and Desiree Chantarasak’s appropriately named restaurant finally has a permanent home down a Marylebone street with a number of other eateries. Thai and British influences are skilfully married by Chef John, while the Thai inspiration spreads to the décor, with tables crafted in Chiang Mai using Chamchuri wood. It’s fun, unique and full of integrity.
Fonda, Mayfair
MexicanFans of One MICHELIN Star Mexican restaurant KOL will be delighted by the opening of a second spot from its chef, Santiago Lastra. Big and busy, it’s a likeable place spread over two floors with an appealingly bright feel. The cooking includes street food staples and slow cooked meats to share. Allow some time to choose a cocktail from a list that includes five varieties of paloma alone.
Row on 5, Mayfair
Modern CuisineOne of two restaurants added to The Guide this month from the prolific Jason Atherton, this one is ostensibly his new flagship – and it has been a long time in the making. The room itself is lavish and theatrical, while the kitchen has been put in the more than capable hands of Spencer Metzger, Roux Scholar and formerly of The Ritz. His dishes deliver outstanding ingredients cooked with undoubted skill.
Three Darlings, Chelsea
World CuisineAnother Atherton operation, this Chelsea spot is a tribute to Jason and Irha’s three daughters. Sit in one of the comfortable velvet chairs or up at one of two counters, watching either your cocktail being mixed or the chefs cooking over the open flames. As is the Atherton way, the menu is rooted in Britain – but unafraid to throw in international flavours where appropriate.
Wildflowers, Pimlico
Mediterranean CuisineFor a recent opening, there’s an impressively well-established feel to Wildflowers, which is a testament to how diners have embraced it. It forms part of the smart Newson’s Yard development in the heart of Belgravia and – with its uncomplicated, flavoursome Italian cooking – it might just be a saviour for those missing the recently closed Enoteca Turi nearby.
