MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou 2025 Announced, with One New Star and Four New Bib Gourmands Highlighting the Local Culinary Scene

The latest MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou celebrates a rising wave of young culinary talent, with all three MICHELIN Special Awards going to post-90s professionals.

Michelin is pleased to present the 2025 edition of the MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou which showcases both the steady advancement of Guangzhou's culinary scene - where innovation builds upon tradition - and the remarkable emergence of a new generation of dining professionals. While all three MICHELIN Special Awards were given to post-90s talents, the selection features a total of 112 outstanding restaurants, including 3 Two Star establishments, 18 One Star venues, 45 Bib Gourmand eateries, and 46 MICHELIN-Selected restaurants.

Restaurant Chōwa is promoted to One MICHELIN Star


The year’s selection features a total of 21 MICHELIN-Starred restaurants, of which 20 are proud retainers from last year’s edition—therefore, demonstrating remarkable consistency in offering top quality food proposals. The list includes 3 Two-Star establishments: Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine, Jiang by Chef Fei, and Taian Table, as well as 17 One Star restaurants (including Yong which renewed both Red and Green Star for its mindful culinary offering).


In addition, Hong Kong-born young chef Louis Tam achieved a remarkable double triumph—not only claiming this year's MICHELIN Young Chef Award but also spearheading Chōwa Restaurant (specializing in innovative cuisine) to newly earn One MICHELIN Star, making it Guangzhou's 18th One-Star establishment.

Born in 1993, Chef Louis is a graduate of Hong Kong's Culinary Academy. With over a decade of industry experience, he honed his craft at renowned Starred restaurants in Bangkok and Hong Kong before settling in Guangzhou. Chōwa Restaurant marks his mainland China debut—featuring a personally curated menu that blends unique culinary perspectives with bold, innovative creations. As both chef and restaurateur, he multitasks with exceptional ambition, demonstrating remarkable potential for continued growth.

4 Restaurants Newly Awarded Bib Gourmand, 5 Added to MICHELIN Selected list


This year's Bib Gourmand list welcomes four new additions, showcasing Guangzhou's vibrant local flavors. A new Cantonese eatery, Song Yuan, impresses with its roasted meats and wok dishes, while Taste Soar × Da Tou Hui, a soup specialist serves rich broth simmered for hours.

Noodle shop Zhou Men preserves traditional bamboo-pressing techniques, and Yong Zuo, a relocated congee restaurant, continues to delight with Teochew-style fish porridge. These additions highlight the Guide's ongoing celebration of authentic, affordable dining experiences that capture the city's culinary soul.

5 new restaurants have joined the MICHELIN Selected category, including Cantonese specialists Delightful House and Gu Yuan, seasonal vegetable-focused Gu Yuan led by a young chef, innovative concept Leowe under another rising culinary star, and affordable creative vegetarian eatery Plant-Based Kitchen - collectively highlighting how plant-based concepts emphasizing seasonal produce and sustainability are bringing fresh vitality to Guangzhou's dining landscape.

At this year's Guangzhou MICHELIN Guide ceremony, three young culinary professionals stole the spotlight by receiving the prestigious MICHELIN Special Awards, highlighting the energy and impact of the new generation in the industry.

While Chef Louis Tam earned this year’s Young Chef Award with his unique vision and bold innovation, Mr. Martin LUO, the sommelier at Restaurant Yong, received the MICHELIN Sommelier Award for his distinctive personal style and profound expertise.

Born in 1998, Martin brings pure passion to his craft, dedicating himself to continuous learning and mastery. His thoughtfully curated wine list may be concise, but it’s brimming with ingenuity—each selection and pairing reveals his exceptional understanding of flavors. Notably, he actively promotes China’s domestic wines through expert food-and-wine pairing recommendations, demonstrating his commitment to advancing local wine culture. His philosophy honors the classic foundations of traditional winemaking while embracing an open-minded approach to explore the boundless possibilities of contemporary styles.

Finally, Ms. Xiaoyu HE of Tongtown Restaurant was honored with this year's Service Award. With a background in hospitality management, she brings both a vibrant personality and meticulous attention to detail to her role. Known for enthusiastically recommending signature dishes and vividly explaining their preparation, she also anticipates guests' needs with prompt, thoughtful service that elevates the entire dining experience.

The Guangzhou restaurant selection joins the MICHELIN Guide selection of hotels, which features the most unique and exciting places to stay in China and throughout the world.
