Andeok is known for its chilled beef naengguksu and mandutguk. Its mulguksu is similar to Pyongyang-style naengmyeon but the noodles are softer and springier due to their higher buckwheat content. The clean and mild broth is balanced with toppings of lightly seasoned beef, which burst with deep beefy flavor with each bite. Fried peppers are also popular - the meat and vegetable filling encased in a crisp batter is surprisingly flavorful. There is typically a long queue during lunch, so it’s best to arrive at opening time.
