Hyatt’s Andaz luxury boutique hotels are known not only for their good looks but for tailoring their aesthetic to their destinations. It’s no surprise, then, that the Andaz Xiamen, set in the southern city known as the “garden of the sea,” should feel a touch more escapist and leisurely than its cousins in Shanghai and Shenzhen. The style is a modern interpretation of the local tradition, and it’s visible everywhere, from the handsom (and quietly luxe) rooms and suites to the bars and restaurants, which include Minnan and Chaoshan cuisine at No. 101 as well as modern Italian at Sugar Pavilion.
