Wymara Resort & Villas, Turks + Caicos makes its home on Providenciales, on a stunning stretch of sand, looking straight out at that big empty blue sea — and the combination of unspoiled natural beauty and the clean-lined contemporary-luxe Wymara is a powerful one indeed.
The look is more reminiscent of stylish Miami Beach than the Caribbean norm — the rooms are crisp and contemporary, not aggressively modern or minimal, though mostly monochrome, the better to keep the attention focused on the sun, surf and sand outside. Many of the rooms, and all of the suites, face out to sea, but even if you’re overlooking the garden, you won’t leave here without getting a good close look at the ocean — the fishing, diving, and snorkeling, if you want to get that close, are extraordinary.
Whether or not you go that far, you’re certain to spend some time at the beach club or the pool — rent a beach bed at the former, or an “island pod” at the latter, for all your private-in-public sunbathing needs. Two bustling restaurants and a spa with the latest in group fitness offerings complete the city-by-the-sea package — though mellower than Miami Beach, there’s still a bit of an urban party vibe to be found here.
