The Sea Ranch has long been one of coastal California’s most unusual places — a planned community, established in the 1960s, where a number of prominent midcentury architects built a variety of low-profile, low-impact timber-frame houses. It’s here, in a weathered redwood building that’s still home to the community’s general store and post office, that you’ll find The Sea Ranch Lodge, a 17-room hotel that combines modern Californian luxury with the utopian spirit of the project’s original founding. Alongside its impressive accommodations, guests enjoy the presence of an excellent restaurant and bar, as well as access to mile after mile of sublimely rocky coastline.
