Set in an attractive building on a corner plot in the Prenzlauer Berg district, this highly inviting restaurant boasting a clean, modern look opened in October 2024. At the helm is a trio of industry professionals with a proven track record: owner Silvio Pfeufer (formerly head chef at einsunternull) presides in the kitchen, co-owner and maître d' Janine Woltaire heads up the friendly service team, which includes experienced sommelier Michael Stiel – the pair were colleagues at another Berlin restaurant, Horváth. There are two set menus (one is vegetarian), each comprising five or six courses. Alternatively, you can order from a range of à la carte options. Diners are presented with a modern, ingredient-led take on traditional French cuisine, a dish of kale, Roscoff onion and black chanterelle being a case in point. The name of this place is a nod to the chef's grandfather, who once had a butcher's shop in this neighbourhood.
