Harbor Court Hotel is the rare San Francisco hotel that evokes the the colorful, slightly gritty history of the Embarcadero. This stately Spanish Colonial Revival-style structure, built in 1926 across the street from the Ferry Building, was formerly an Army-Navy residence. Today the landmark is a stylish boutique hotel, but a range of details are reminders of its past, from the red-brick facade to the cheerful maritime-inspired color scheme.
Rooms are light-filled and modern, outfitted in crisp white, charcoal gray, and royal blue. All feature Frette linens, Soundfreaq sound systems, spacious workstations, and white subway-tile bathrooms. Some look over an interior courtyard or face the city skyline, but the best come with sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge — including the apartment-like penthouse suite, with a Chesterfield sofa serving as a comfortable lookout point over the water below.
Included amenities are plentiful and practical: a complimentary continental breakfast, an evening wine hour, loaner bicycles, and access to the on-site YMCA fitness center. Also conveniently connected to the hotel is the sushi restaurant Ozumo, and countless other restaurants and bars are within blocks of the front door.
