MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The unassuming owner and his cheerful wife are warmly welcoming. They serve farm-raised unagi primarily from Miyazaki and Kagoshima. Thoroughly steamed and grilled over charcoal, it melts in your mouth. The skewer menu shows originality, featuring naka-ochi or flesh from the spine, liver, hire and more. Also popular are the ‘Uzaku’ which combines pickled cucumbers with crispy unagi prepared without steaming, and the ‘Umaki’, made using plenty of dashi.
