Six Senses Crans-Montana
While it pays aesthetic tribute to the existing Alpine-lodge idiom, this Six Senses is about two peaked roofs away from sci-fi. Its interiors, too, are unashamedly modern; though natural textures like wood, leather, and stone predominate, this place is 21st-century through and through.
The rooms and suites are as luxe as you’d expect, decked out in chic dark neutrals with full-length windows that focus the eye on the landscape — the mountain views include glimpses of such peaks as the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. Meanwhile the vast Six Senses spa offers everything from traditional massages and treatments to sleep analysis and “biohacking.”
And the hotel’s restaurants hold up their end as well. Byakko, the flagship restaurant, serves exquisite Japanese fare, while Wild Cabin, the all-day brasserie, is decidedly local in inspiration. All this and ski-in, ski-out access to the Cry d’Er gondola, placing the whole of one of Switzerland’s largest ski areas right at your feet.
