A boutique hotel on the south coast of Corsica named after a Massachusetts whaling novel isn’t the sort of thing you come across every day. Nor is its setting, on a long beach between a lagoon and the Mediterranean, just down the coast from Porto-Vecchio, anything less than singular. The interiors are somewhat jarringly contemporary, while modernist building’s weathered wooden exterior helps it blend into the leafy landscape. Every room faces either the sea or the lagoon, and the beach is idyllic; there’s a bar and restaurant on site, and the village of Santa Giulia lies just at the other end of the beach.
