MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Founded in 1981, Tambuah Mas specialises in Indonesian home-style cuisine from Padang, Sulawesi, and Java. The look has remained largely unchanged over the years but no one is here for the décor – they come for dishes like rendang lembu (braised beef in spice and coconut milk); tahu telor (fried cubed beancurd and egg) and kepala ikan istimewa (fish head simmered in tangy spicy sweet and sour asam sauce). The menu is not overlong and the dishes are full of flavour and nicely balanced.
