There are no distractions at this authentic Egyptian café. The look is simple and alcohol isn’t offered since this is a strictly Muslim establishment, but friendly service provides the small space with just enough ambience.

Seafood is without a doubt the star attraction here. Whole fish are pulled from their icy display and thrown onto a sizzling flattop to be barbecued Egyptian-style (blackened and sprinkled with spices and chopped herbs); and the fried shrimp are also a very popular option. But regardless of what main you decide on, a platter of cool and creamy spreads is the only accompaniment you’ll need—especially since it’s served with pillows of wonderfully chewy pita that arrives so hot you might burn your fingers ripping into it.
