You can’t always judge a hotel by its name, but the Grand Hotel Oslo is exactly what it sounds like — this monumental 19th-century edifice on Karl Johans gate, the capital’s main drag, is the host of the annual Nobel Prize banquet, and among its restaurants is the Grand Café, where the likes of Henrik Ibsen used to spend their days. Needless to say it’s a luxury hotel in the classic vein, though its interiors show plenty of contemporary influence, as it’s done well to keep pace with the times — not least in the vast and extravagant Artesia Spa.
