MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
With ties to Seoul’s long-established Samwon Garden, founded in 1976, this Midtown hangout now operates under a different name. Nevertheless, it continues to deliver a reliable roster of barbecue hits. The restaurant stands tall with three floors, each one humming with constant K-Pop; and regardless of your perch, know that the quality of cooking and level of service rise well above other stalwarts in this fabled part of town.
The signature Antoya galbi arrives lightly scored and delicately marinated, cooked on a tableside, gas-powered grill that never once threatens to choke the room in smoke. One could also make a meal out of the vibrant banchan, though fluffy egg soufflés and crunchy mung bean pancakes are lovely additions.
