Maison Manesse

This wonderfully down-to-earth restaurant enjoys a somewhat inconspicuous location, at a remove from the city centre. Its pared-down decor is almost pub-like, a little on the rustic side, but also modern – "vintage" is probably the best way to describe it. The service is relaxed and at the same time highly competent. You can choose à la carte or opt for one of the surprise menus: with vegetarian and vegan dishes such as a terrifically fresh and flavoursome combination of carrot, buckwheat, linseed and sea buckthorn, you won't miss meat or fish, but you don't have to go entirely without. The kitchen team uses top-notch ingredients to cook up dishes brimming with original ideas – creative, but not outlandish. As well as fine wines, there are also interesting alcohol-free alternatives.
