MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This restaurant was founded in 1945 by a Ohatsu-tenjin shrine gardener on the premises of the shrine. The true charm of the oden, carried on by the second-generation owner-chef, is the dashi made from tai heads and kombu. Homemade-style ingredients include shrimp meatballs and deep-fried tofu fritters. Featuring minced fish wrapped in a bamboo mat, the ‘Sumaki’ is made with hamo—something you’ll find only in Kansai. At the end comes chameshi made with oden dashi.
