MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

In an interior reminiscent of a sukiya, the sound of sizzling oil sets the ambience. Tempura is deep-fried in oil at low or high heat depending on the ingredient. The oil is cottonseed oil, in which each item is cooked in to coax out the natural flavours. The focus is on seafood and vegetables; like sake lee and yuba for tempura, all are in true Kyoto style. At lunchtime you can enjoy tendon; in the evening, complement the tempura with tsukuri and bowls of stewed items.
