The George Hotel Yarmouth
Quay St, Yarmouth, UK
17 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Lively
This 17th-century townhouse, set right in the shadow of Yarmouth’s old fortifications, was once home to the island’s governor. Today the George Hotel Yarmouth is a well-preserved and charmingly eccentric boutique hotel that freely mixes antique and contemporary elements. The rooms are all different, as is typical of heritage properties; some are wood-paneled, some have luxurious bathrooms, some open onto the garden or have spacious balconies, and many have excellent views of the Solent, thanks to the house’s prominent harborfront position. The Conservatory restaurant spills out into the beachfront garden, and the whole of the town is within a few minutes’ walk.
