This 19th-century Victorian house on the shores of Loch Ness is perhaps more a guest house than a hotel per se; Foyers Lodge is managed by its owners, who live on site, and who decorated this adults-only escape in a handsome and distinctive contemporary-classic style. It’s not easy to imbue a hotel with a strong sense of place while studiously avoiding kitsch and cliché, but they’ve managed it. A substantial breakfast is served daily, and the Dining Room operates as an intimate restaurant in the evenings, offering views of Loch Ness itself.
