MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Thanks to a warm and natural vibe, ukulele tunes and the talented husband-and-wife team at its helm, this Far Rockaway haven of central Asian cuisine is as easy and breezy as its surf town environs. This kitchen's unique interplay of flavors guarantees a delightful meal that's as hearty and fragrant as it is unpretentious: shredded Korean-style carrot salad is dressed with chili flakes and aromatic herbs; and the signature butternut squash manti-here topped with caramelized onions-are an utterly satisfying vegetarian take on the typically meat-stuffed dumplings. Daily specials are always a treat, and may reveal the likes of succulent braised lamb seasoned with cumin and rosemary, plated with sundried apricots, as well as a fluffy mound of kasha.
