MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

It would be a mistake to underestimate this neighborhood favorite as only a place for ramen. It’s much more than that, thanks largely to the fine-dining chops of Per Se alum, Chef Joshua Smookler and his wife, Heidy He, who runs the dining room. Chef Smookler is always standing at the head of the restaurant, inspecting every bowl of tonkotsu, its rich broth distilled from Kurobuta pork; and every cheeseburger, also known as one of the best in town. High-quality ingredients like uni, dry-aged ground beef and clams are handled with respect and care and serve as the cornerstones of this family affair.

Adding to the allure is the sleek space that looks as cool as Tokyo's nightlife, with its noodle-like ceiling, concrete finishes, and trendy light fixtures.
