MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Charlie Palmer’s midtown behemoth is made up of two distinct areas so it’s worth knowing which one’s for you. The Liberty Room plays host to the after-work crowd, in for a drink to celebrate a promotion or just the end of another day. If you’re coming to close a deal or impress the in-laws then ask for the inner sanctum of the more formal dining room, which comes with fewer braying suits. The menu is a roll-call of luxury ingredients-from Maine lobster to Scottish salmon, Griggstown pheasant to Wagyu beef-and the kitchen ensures they're the focus of the plate, in dishes that are contemporary without being overwrought. Pastas, like garganelli with veal ragout or squid ink cavatelli, are a highlight. The impressive wine list is strong on burgundy.
