MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Including the word shokudo (‘restaurant’) in the name is to welcome those guests, too, who aren't really drinkers. The owner-chef's rich experience in cuisine shows in dishes such as ham of chicken raised locally in Kyoto, shimesaba sushi, and tripe cooked in miso. There is local sake from his home prefecture of Niigata, and Koshihikari rice sent from a local farmer. We recommend the just-cooked white rice, or the takikomi-gohan with seasonal ingredients.
