MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Booth One’s opening marks the return of one of Chicago’s trendiest dining rooms. Formerly known as The Pump Room, this contemporary reincarnation is named after the booth reserved for A-list celebs who dined there—have a look at the black-and-white photos lining the walls for a glimpse of the good old days. Today, the stylish interior flaunts a plush cream, gold and gray color scheme. The food is an old-timey homage to European cooking and is as ambitious as it is excellent. Classic dishes include beef Wellington, Dover sole and rack of lamb. Alternatively, make a meal of American faves like lobster Louie salad or a burger. Desserts are especially nice, including a slice of devil's food cake layered with coconut mousse and topped with warm fudge sauce.
