For the quintessential Venice experience, you could do a lot worse than a boutique hotel that’s set right on the Grand Canal. Hotel L’Orologio is nothing if not stylish — the rooms and suites tend more towards mid-century modernism than Venice’s Renaissance-era norm — and it’s more than a little luxurious as well. As the name might suggest, there’s a bit of a clockwork theme, though it’s handled thoughtfully, and lends a stylistic unity to these disparate spaces. The L’O Bar serves not just breakfast and drinks but an all-day light menu as well, and the location, in central Venice, means a near-infinite wealth of restaurants lie just around the next corner.
