Hotel Monopol
H. Modrzejewskiej 2, Wrocław, Poland
121 Rooms
Modern Design & Lively
Opened in 1892 by a prominent Wrocław banker, Hotel Monopol became the city’s most distinguished stay, hosting names like Marlene Dietrich and Pablo Picasso, who famously left behind a sketched dove on a restaurant napkin. Restored in 2009, it still wears its history well: sandstone façades, curved ceilings, and expanses of black and sable marble. Rooms are dramatic and tailored, with exposed brick, dark woods, and high ceilings framing views of St. Dorothy’s church. It may have hosted legends, and it’s known for its exceptional hospitality even today.
