MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The name refers to the year that brothers and co-owners, Maziar and Shahab Farivar, emigrated from Iran, but everything else about this Persian gem is uniquely au courant. Simple, sleek, and donning a cool palette of blues, lofty windows, painted walls and an outdoor patio make this an ideal warm weather retreat.

The kitchen excels in the updated world of Persian cuisine, turning out such distinctively traditional items as fesenjoon—a stew of beef meatballs in a sweet-tart sauce of walnut and pomegranate molasses. Even so, familiar dishes like chicken and beef kabobs get extra attention, thanks to a nuanced sumac-laced marinade. Mini saffron-scented tahchin sport an assertive crust, while a walnut-brown sugar tart with cinnamon ice cream is gooey galore.
