MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

One MICHELIN Star: High quality cooking, worth a stop!

It would seem that the world of advertising can open every door! Hervé Bourdon, former Parisian art director, and his wife, Catherine, ditched their former lives to take over and transform this small hotel restaurant. It is idyllically located a pebble’s throw (literally) from the seashore, overlooking the pretty harbour of Portivy, with sea breezes and dazzling sunsets. A single set menu unfolds to reveal resolutely local produce including fish and shellfish, while the herbs, flowers and veggies are from one of the restaurant’s organic cottage gardens. The chef has a knack with fish that he sears on a teppanyaki, and if you are very lucky, you may be able to sample rare delicacies such as barnacles, which taste a bit like a cross between a lobster and a clam and are eaten with the fingers – out of this world!

Gastronomy & Sustainability

MICHELIN Green Star

"Our menu gives pride of place to seasonal produce from our own gardens or local producers. Fish whose species is threatened or endangered are removed from our menus. As for the fish we do cook, we favour slaughter according to the ikejime method in a bid to respect the animals."

— Hervé Bourdon
