Find Lowland just off busy King Street in a two-story brick former residence across from the boutique Pinch hotel. The first floor is home to a buzzy bar room and casual dining space, while upstairs is a bit more formal. After earning his chops behind the stove at Fig, Chef Jason Stanhope is making a name for himself at this hip hangout. Come for comfort food like a biscuit with famer cheese and pepper jelly or a tavern burger with fries and a cognac sauce, or entrees like grilled, locally caught grey triggerfish atop a bed of creamy sweet potato polenta with lardons and a bacon vinaigrette. Elevated comfort continues through dessert with house-made hand pies filled with baked apples and caramel plus vanilla-infused whipped cream.
