While the menu at Don Alfonso 1890’s two-Michelin-star restaurant may be more or less what you expect, given its setting just inland from the Amalfi Coast, it’s safe to say the interior design probably isn’t. This renovated 19th-century house, in Sant’Agata sue Due Golfi on the Sorrentine peninsula, has traditional elements, but the fanciful color scheme — rose, magenta, and bubble-gum pink, with accents in canary yellow, lime green and cherry red — feels straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Guest rooms are charming and cheerful, with vaulted ceilings, locally made artwork, and hand-painted mosaics. Outside, a wide covered porch twinkles with tiny lights after dark; relax with drinks after a cooking class or a tour of the wine cellar and cheese aging room, located in a pre-Roman tunnel.
