Vienna's Best Hotels: Two Distinct Personalities

Vienna's Key hotels marry the two sides of the capital. A handful of elegant, luxurious places are steeped in history — among them the Hotel Sacher, Hotel Sans Souci, Hotel Imperial and the Rosewood Vienna.

Alongside these historic gems are a confident slew of newer additions to the landscape. Head to places like Hotel Josefine, the Buxbaum Boutique Hotel, and the Hotel MOTTO for a more modern vibe.

Keys and Stars: Tyrol's Towering Mountains

There are many reasons to visit Tyrol, western Austria's famous mountain region, and the hotels, with a distinct culinary expertise, are by no means an afterthought.

Seven Key hotels in Tyrol boast at least one on-site MICHELIN restaurant. Among the standouts is Hotel Alpenresort Schwarz, home to Two-Star restaurant 141 by Joachim Jaud — a chic, modern spot for seasonal cuisine and a fine selection of organic and rare wines.

Beyond the Mountains

Austria gets plenty of international recognition for its winter attractions, but regions like Burgenland, Carinthia, Upper Austria and Styria make for excellent year-round destinations. In this patchwork of hilly landscapes and forests, Inspectors unearthed exclusive gems like the storybook Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, which, after two years of renovation, earned Three MICHELIN Keys.

Other notable finds include Scheiblhofer THE RESORT in Andau (Burgenland), Impulshotel FREIGOLD in Freistadt (Upper Austria), Montestyria in Styria, and Two-Key hotels Schloss Seefels and Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden in Carinthia on Wörthersee.
