Though remarkably stylish and casual, what’s perhaps most notable about the Hong Kong–based Ovolo hotels is their almost bizarre generosity. Where any typical hotel would gladly seize the opportunity to bite you for a few dollars, or forty — wi-fi, the minibar, the (typically extortionate) laundry service — an Ovolo informs you, with much graciousness, that it’s on the house. Now, those of us who for one reason or another don’t trouble ourselves about the magnitude of our hotel bill have already clicked “close tab” and gone looking for one of HK’s top-end luxury hotels. The rest of us are peering at the map, trying to see whether the Ovolo Noho is anywhere near where we need to go.

Fortunately it is. Hong Kong’s Noho is the recently gentrified, fast-developing district just north of Hollywood Road, and it’s got no end of dining, drinking and shopping options. Which is good, because this is very much a get-out-and-enjoy-the-town sort of hotel. The rooms are quite comfortable, quite attractive, and they’re even up for a touch of entertaining, but they’re smart and efficient, not extravagant and ostentatious. No matter — the action's out there, anyway.
