Charcoal-grilled treats, wine and sake are the signature fare of this izakaya. “It’s primitive, but it suits the ingredients”, says the owner-chef as he starts the fire. The menu is centred on meat, such as venison, duck and beef, though the grill also enhances the flavour of seafood and vegetables. The meat is grilled slowly so enjoy the wait with a glass of organic wine or local sake. Many appetisers are French in origin, such as paté of pork and tapenade-dressed vegetables.
