A Palladian mansion on 1,100 acres of Kildare parkland, Carton House has been one of Ireland's great aristocratic estates since the 18th century, long associated with the Fitzgerald family before its transformation into a Fairmont-managed resort. The rooms range from Victorian-featured staterooms with William Morris-style floral wallpapers to more contemporary Fairmont wing rooms with garden and parkland views, all anchored by beds in gold upholstery and paisley carpets. The Morrison Room holds a Michelin star, the original house library has been given over entirely to whiskey, and the Carriage House Courtyard now holds a gastropub, wine room, and boutique stocked with Irish-made products.
