With a name like Silks Club it’s no surprise that this luxury hotel, in Taiwan’s southern metropolis of Kaohsiung, is a plush one indeed; not only are its 147 rooms and suites outfitted with state-of-the-art comforts, but the style of the place, in all its monumental minimalism, exerts a powerfully calming influence. Special attention is paid to soundproofing the spaces and lightproofing the bedrooms, and the wellness facilities include a sauna, an open-air infinity pool, and an impressive gym. Meanwhile the restaurants and bars are similarly high-end; of particular note is the teppanyaki- and kaiseki-style Ukai.
