The Mulberry hasn't been open long, but this Korean American restaurant in Sawtelle is a hit. It could be the trendy look, with dark wood floors and tables. It might be the full-service bar with a terrific wine list and cocktail program. Or maybe it's the approachable but spot-on menu. No matter the reason, make a reservation, since seats fill quickly. Steamed pork and chive dumplings or kimchi pancake topped with bean sprouts and herbs are good openers before charcoal-grilled pork or beef short ribs with a variety of accompaniments. Save room for their hotteok a la mode, a caramelized cinnamon "crepe" that's accompanied by vanilla ice cream for a special send off.
