The vision of Finnish designer Harri Koskinen, the Maja’s atmosphere is one of inviting, soft wood tones making for clean, cozy spaces. “Maja,” in fact, is Finnish for “hut;” this Maja’s accommodations are of two sizes: “sleep-in” or “walk-in” compartments, which offer exactly the right amount of space for one or two, all inside a design shaped like a house, lending a sense of expansiveness beyond their raw square footage. Bathrooms are shared by guests, and all toiletries, slippers and linens are supplied. Continental breakfasts are available at Maja’s Cafe Aalto.
