Perched on a craggy cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Harbor House Inn enjoys a prime location in one of the most scenic stretches of northern California. Indeed, with cell signals often cutting out as guests make their way along the wild coastline, it’s a place that’s remarkably free from distractions.

Harbor House Inn’s small scale reinforces the sense of tranquility — a mere six rooms are set in the main house, supplemented by five freestanding cottages, for a bit more privacy. Some face the gardens, others frame sublime view of the cove, and the style throughout combines contemporary and classic elements — think clawfoot tubs and modern gas fireplaces. Among the activities are horseback riding, kayaking, beachcombing, and fishing, as well as whale watching during the season, from December through April.
