Bold Indian flavors and elegant platings are par for the course at Junoon, where pendant lights strung with thick grass ropes, vintage mirrors, and a gleaming white marble bar set a sophisticated tone. The dishes are as surprising as they are delightful as in tuna puchka, with three bite-sized semolina puffs tucked with finely diced raw tuna topped with a dollop of caviar. A small vessel of mint cilantro jaljeera, intended for pouring over the tuna, is an ideal accompaniment. The tomato-based tile fish Assamese curry offers a delicious spice journey with gentle heat and notes of cilantro. Meanwhile, savory dal makhani calls for a house-spiced naan; while Tree of Life, a bright Madras curry-scented whipped cream infused with condensed milk, is the perfect finish.
