Barely a hotel at all in the traditional sense of the word, A77 Suites by Andronis begins with a 19th-century neoclassical villa hiding in plain sight on busy Adrianou Street, right at the foot of the Acropolis. From inside, however, you’ll find yourself distinctly untroubled by the tourist traffic, instead living a life of surprising glamour — the interior style, a sort of high-fashion residential look, recalls the finest small hotels in Rome, another city where modern luxury and ancient history live happily side by side.

Even the humblest Petite Suite comes with a small sitting area and a marble bathroom with a walk-in rain shower, while the top-end Iconic Suite includes a private outdoor terrace with a hot tub that looks directly up at the Acropolis. At all levels, they’re perfectly comfortable, with details like Nespresso machines and organic bath products, and they’re impressively soundproofed as well.

As for typical hotel services, A77 Suites is rather light — this is more a luxe bolthole than an urban resort, to say the least.
