The redevelopment of the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront into the purpose-built Victoria Dockside art and design district is big news for Kowloon, the mainland side of Hong Kong. And it’s big news for us as well, for among its hospitality offerings is K11 Artus, a residential-style luxury boutique hotel with an intense focus on art, architecture, design, and culture in general.
It was designed by celebrated architect André Fu for entrepreneur Adrian Cheng, whose K11 art foundation (and retail operation) has made it its mission to integrate China into the international contemporary art world — a mission that’s met with a great deal of success. And K11 Artus will only advance the cause; it’s exquisitely crafted, with seemingly mundane details like lighting and furniture exhibiting the same care as the priceless artworks on display.
Imagine the extravagance and comfort of Hong Kong’s established luxury hotels combined with the taste and style of the most avant-garde boutique hotel, and you’re essentially there. The accommodations range from studios to three-bedroom suites, all of which come with balconies, many with extraordinary views of Hong Kong Island across the water.
